RI Rep. Willian O’Brien Re-Introduces Anti-Declaw Bill –

February 18, 2021 – Rhode Island State Representative William W. O’Brien has re-introduced a bill, SD1433, that will end declawing in Rhode Island. Rep. O’Brien is a Deputy Majority Leader of the RI house of Representative. Several Anti-Declaw bills have been introduced over the years in Rhode Island, though none have moved past the committee stage. Rhode Island followed California in passing a state state prohibiting landlords from requiring declawing of pet cats as a condition of tenancy.
