California Anti-Declaw Bill Passes Appropriations Committee

California Anti-Declaw Bill, AB 2606, Approved by Appropriations Committee –

May 18, 2022 –
California Anti-Declaw Bill AB 2606 passed the California Assembly Appropriations Committee with an 11-0 vote. The bill would make nontherapeutic declawing illegal and was authored by State Assemblymember Wendy Carrillo. The Paw Project is the primary sponsor of the bill.

The bill now goes to the entire Assembly for a floor vote and must pass both houses of the legislature and be signed by the governor before becoming law.
